WISE Study Tour to Japan
WISE Study Tour took female science and engineering students to Japan where they had the opportunity to engage in academic exchange and peer sharing at a top local university. They also got the chance to gain insight into the technology-based industries in Japan. The tour was led by Professor Mengqian Lu of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

International Women's Day Special Screening - She Objects
Commissioned by The Women’s Foundation, in partnership with Women Helping Women, She Objects is the first documentary of its kind in Hong Kong to explore how traditional and new forms of media create and exacerbate gender stereotypes with often damaging consequences.

Leadership and Academic Excellence Workshop

The Woman Faculty Association organized a workshop to champion women in leadership and academic excellence, which was sponsored by the Executive Vice-President & Provost.
Leveraging the principles of neuroscience, positive psychology, coaching and emotional intelligence, the three-hour workshop focused on enhancing balance, collaboration and success in both career and personal life.

WISE Summer camp is a 3-day residential camp specially designed for young women in S.4 and S.5 in the HKDSE cohort with an aptitude for Science or Engineering.
The camp consisted of hands-on workshops and experiments, academic seminars and mini-lectures, gatherings, fun games, and out-of-classroom activities to give the students a taste of what university life is like.

WISE Korea Study Tour 2016
June 6th-9th, 2016
With generous support from the School of Science and School of Engineering, WISE Korea Tour returned to provide female science and engineering students insights into technology-based industries in Korea. They had the opportunity to engage in academic exchange and peer sharing at a top local university. Students also got the chance to learn from the tour leader Prof Ng Tze Ling of Civil and Environmental Engineering on developing a professional or academic career in science and engineering.

Have you thought of creating a start up with your students to commercialize research results from your lab? Have you applied for joint grants with the industry? Have you ever wondered whether you should accept a contract research request from an outside company? What is the patent filing process at HKUST? Should you license your technology to third parties or productize it yourself? What are the guidelines for knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship at HKUST? What are the challenges to meet and the pitfalls to avoid when you collaborate with the industry? Ultimately, what do we hope to achieve through this endeavor and what do we need to do better?
Faculty members from three schools with extensive experiences in entrepreneurship, collaborative research,contract research and other forms of IP transfer spoke about their experience. Representatives from the RandD Corp, the Technology Transfer Centre, the Entrepreneurship Centre, the HKUST Shenzhen Institute also spoke and answered questions.
